Do You Check Information about Disaster Preparedness Regularly?
In Japan, many prefectures, cities, and towns published information about disaster preparedness on their websites. We asked students and teachers whether they had checked them or not at our school. As a result, more than 80% of the people had never checked it. According to them, it is a hassle to check these websites by themselves.
It is a shame not to utilize this useful information!!
Our website allows you to access information about disaster preparedness. We distinguish information for residents and for visitors. Why don't you check it out?
Let Us Introduce Ourselves, "Mozuku"
We are a group of four people researching on how to effectively express information for disaster preparedness.
On January 1st, 2024, large earthquakes occurred in the Noto area, with a maximum magnitude of 7.6.
Although the cities we live in are not so close to the hypocenter, we felt quite a large rock, which made us panic.
Due to this experience, we realized that our disaster preparedness was not enough.
Ishikawa has a large fault zone called Morimoto-Togashi Fault Zone.
It is estimated to have a high possibility of causing earthquakes within 30 years. Its magnitude could be almost the same as 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
In short, it might be our turn next. We have to take action for disaster preparedness in daily life.
In order to make people pay more attention to disaster preparedness, we suggest to use maintenance holes and utility poles as information media. (This thought derives from our other research. You can see it here.)We have come up with two ideas to gather more interests.
〈Idea 1: Making Original Character〉
For example, how about using the below character for advertisement? We designed her by using Canva AI.
Her beret is associated with the maintenance hole, and her clothing is inspired by the utility pole.
〈Idea 2: Holding Quiz Rally Event〉
We think of putting quizzes about tips on disaster preparedness on those information media. People might have interests in disaster preparedness through participating in this event.
We hope that our ideas spread wider, and more people come to have higher sense of disaster preparedness!
