Virtual learning can be really fun and has loads of opportunities for learning in new and exciting ways. We must also remember how to stay safe while working online. Here are some agreements we should follow to stay safe and healthy while we are working from home:
When messaging, all communication must be kind and respectful.
Keep your personal information private. Only use your school email address for work.
If someone you do not know tries to contact you report it to an adult.
Keep track of your screen time. Too much is not good for you.
Stay active, go for a walk or move around when you need to. Everyday if you can!
Not all learning should be online, do at least one activity a day that does not involve a computer.
Screen time affects sleep. Switch off devices at least an hour before bedtime.
If possible, please use a space in your house that is not your bedroom for online meet ups. This could be your lounge, study, kitchen.
All students are expected to adhere to our Live Classroom Session Student Expectations. By attending live video classroom session, you understand and agree to these agreements that have been put into place in order to keep you safe.
Important
If you see or experience something that makes you worried you can:
Speak to an adult at home
Contact your classroom teacher
Contact Mrs Dean
Practice ‘Netiquette’
Remember that online manners matter: no yelling (IN CAPS), use respectful language, and stay on topic during online discussions like you would normally in class
Take breaks often where you step away from the computer screen: try 25 minutes of work, with 5 minute breaks in between.
Set a timer or an alarm to remind you to take a break
Use fun apps like FOREST to help you stay on task and take mindful breaks
Stay on task by staying off social media: put your phone in airplane mode or place it in a designated area of the house while you are completing your online class work

Stay Active
According to the World Health organisation staying active should be a minimum of 60 minutes a day.
The activity is a cumulative total and does not need to be completed in one go.
For health & safety students should be supervised during physical activity
A good warm up and dynamic stretching prior to vigorous activity is important in terms of injury prevention.
Follow Safeguarding Recommendations
The following guidance has been adapted from the recommendations made by Katie Rigg, CIS Head of Safeguarding & Student Well-being.
Where possible students should not join virtual sessions from their bedroom, and are located in a common space in their house within earshot of parents
All students are expected to adhere to our Live Classroom Session Student Expectations. By attending live video classroom session, you understand and agree to these agreements that have been put into place in order to keep you safe.
No sharing of any personal contact details. Use your school-issued a.student@students.isfitaly.org login at all times
If a student or parent are worried about someone or something they witness in an online platform they should report immediately to a parent/guardian, and/or Vice Principal for Student Support, Inka Szablinski.
