Javier is an educator, strategic thinker, and climate activist whose career spans international business, entrepreneurship, and over two decades in the classroom. He has been Changemaker Leader at Sustainability Education since 2023. He began his professional life as a consultant at McKinsey and the Boston Consulting Group, before serving as International Product Manager and Senior Manager of Corporate Development at Apple Computer, based in Cupertino and Paris. He then founded a Paris-based educational media company before becoming a full-time IB teacher, spending twenty years at Wilmington Friends School teaching History, Global Politics, and Theory of Knowledge — earning recognition as Delaware's History Teacher of the Year. Now based in Berlin, Javier writes Light Not Heat, a Substack newsletter that cuts through the noise of the "polycrisis" — the web of interlinked global crises unfolding simultaneously — to help readers understand, plan, and act. Drawing on backgrounds in philosophy, history, strategy, and education across three continents, he is passionate about equipping young people with the clear, integrative thinking needed to become effective changemakers.
