Summer Volleyball is just around the corner. Hard to believe we are talking about this already. This is a great opportunity to play some volleyball with your teammates to get ready for next season. This is an optional activity and is not a requirement for any player at any level to play East Volleyball next fall.

Starting on April 15th, a vanilla envelope will be placed in the volleyball mailbox in the East Athletic office. Please put your completed registration form and fee in that envelope. Please make sure your payment is the exact amount. No change will be returned if you pay more than the required amount. Also, if paying by check, please make sure the athlete's name is written on the check so we can tie the payment to the athlete and return the check to the athlete if the summer league gets canceled.

All registrations are due by Friday, April 26th. Anything after that you most likely will not be placed on a squad. Please plan ahead.

Here is how it works. Jayda Swalve and Carlie Wendinger, varsity captains, will take all the registrations and form teams. They will try and put you with people you have either played with or are at your grade level. While making teams, they will also be trying to balance those teams out by positions. For example, they won't stick 4 liberos on one team while the other has none. Please write your desired position at the bottom of the registration form so Lexi and Mackenzie can make balanced teams.

Who:

ANY GIRL WHO WILL BE IN GRADES 9-12 IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2024-25 IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE.

When:

MONDAY NIGHTS BEGINNING JUNE 3rd THROUGH END OF JULY.  THERE WILL BE 6 NIGHTS OF POOL PLAY (COULD BE DOUBLE HEADERS IF NECESSARY) AND 1 NIGHT OF PLAYOFFS. PLAYOFFS WILL CONSIST OF AN UPPER BRACKET AND LOWER BRACKET SINGLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT IN EACH DIVISION. THIS COULD CHANGE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF TEAMS. GAMES WILL BEGIN AT 3:00 THIS COULD ALSO CHANGE BASED ON THE NUMBER OF TEAMS.

Cost:

$37.00 PER PLAYER, SEND TEAMS INDIVIDUAL TEAM REGISTRATION FORMS WITH TEAM ROSTER THIS FEE INCLUDES EIGHT WEEKS OF VOLLEYBALL AND A T-SHIRT.

League Format:

FORMAT WILL BE BASED ON THE NUMBER OF TEAMS IN YOUR DIVISION. MATCHES COULD BE 3 GAMES RALLY SCORING TO 25 POINTS WITH A CAP OF 27 OR 3 GAMES TO 21 POINTS WITH A CAP OF 23 OR 2 GAMES RALLY SCORING TO 25 POINTS WITH A CAP OF 27 ALL GAMES WILL COUNT TOWARD YOUR WIN/LOSS RECORD. MAXIMUM ONE HOUR OR 45-MINUTE TIME LIMIT WHEN TIME RUNS OUT FIRST TEAM AHEAD BY 1 POINT WINS. ONE TIME OUT PER GAME.

Roster/Payment

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST FILL OUT THE REGISTRATION FORM AND HAVE IT SIGNED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY. CHECKS MUST BE PAYABLE TO: SUE BODDY. NO JUNIORS OR SENIORS (VARSITY) MAY PARTICIPATE IN DIVISION II. PARTICIPANTS MAY ONLY PLAY AND BE ON ONE ROSTER IN THIS LEAGUE. ANY QUESTIONS CONTACT SUE BODDY.

Manager/Coach Optional

Once you have been placed on a team, you might want to consider having a manager to help manage your team. This manager/coach can be a parent, an older sister or brother, or a friend. This person can help with rotations, figuring out who sits out this set and who is in, etc.

The goal when setting up teams is to have around 8 players on it. This is to allow for teams to have some flexibility when players have to miss matches due to work, family obligations, illness, etc. Having a manager/coach is totally optional and many teams who play in this league don't have one. The ones that do find it helpful. Your team's choice.
