Tryouts Info

The interest level and participation in volleyball is exciting at Mankato East.  We have seen an increase in the number of athletes who are interested in being members of the Cougar Volleyball Program.  Unfortunately, our numbers are limited by coach-to-player ratio, facilities, transportation, and equipment.  

While we care about each individual, we are growing a competitive program and cuts will be made at all levels as necessary.   Seniors with at least two years of playing in our program at the B Squad and JV level will not be cut.  Seniors are not guaranteed to be on or play at the varsity level unless it is deemed that they have the skill set to do so.

Everyone is expected to attend and participate in tryouts in its entirety.  Please make every effort to attend.  If you have extenuating circumstances and need to miss a portion of tryouts, please communicate this to us ahead of time.  

8th graders who are invited to tryouts are competing for a spot on the B squad team or higher.  8th graders will not be moved up to the C Squad team.

Captain's Practice -  For 9th - 12th Grader only (Optional for players but highly encouraged to attend especially with limited team spots) 

Monday, Aug 5th, 4:30 - 6PM

7:15 - 8:00 AM - Check-in / Warm Up on your own

8:00 -10:00 AM  - Tryouts Start

Break

12:00 - 1:45 PM - Tryouts Continue for 8th, 10th, 11th, & 12th Graders only

Grade:  9th Graders

9:00 - 9:30 AM -  9th Graders report / check-in / warm-up on your own

9:30 - 11:30 AM - 9th Graders' Tryout outs

Break

2:00 - 3:15 PM - 9th Grade Tryouts Continue

Day 2

When:  Aug 13th

Where:  PWMS    

Grades:  8th, 10th, 11th, & 12th Graders

7:15 - 8:00 AM - Warm-up on your own

8:00 -10:00 AM  - Tryouts Start

Break

12:00 - 1:30 PM - Tryouts Continue  and end

Grade:  9th Graders

9:00 - 9:30 AM -  9th Graders warm-up on your own

9:30 - 11:30 AM - 9th Graders' Try out

Break

2:30 - 3:45 PM - 9th Grade Tryouts continue and end

Players will know the results of the tryouts before they leave the gym on whether or not they made a team.

**Must have current physical on file in the athletic office and be registered for volleyball.  Physicals are good for 3 years.  If you have an expired physical, you will not be able to try out until the Athletic office has a copy of the physical.  If you have not completed the registration process, you will not be able to try out/participate until that is complete.
