BOOK BOWL

Book Bowl is an optional quiz bowl-style program. All 4th and 5th graders can try out for our annual book bowl. Students only need to read some of the books to participate but should be familiar with the overall plot of as many books as possible.

Books for the Book Bowl are available in our school library- click here for the book lists. Mrs. Larson provides book trailers that can help build familiarity with book plots, and the website, managed by Book Bowl coordinator Sarah Montplasir, has additional book information.

Tryouts will be held during media/tech class in late December for any 4th or 5th grader who wants to participate. The tryout consists of a 30-question multiple-choice quiz.

In January, Mrs. Larson will consult with classroom teachers and invite eight high-scoring fifth graders and eight high-scoring fourth graders to participate. Teams of 4 will be chosen based on the scores from the quiz.

The chosen students will participate in the Parker Book Bowl during the school day in February. The top winning team at each grade level will then proceed to their grade level District Book Bowl held on an evening in late March at Elk River High School.

This is a fabulous opportunity for students who love to read to showcase their knowledge and love of books! If you have any questions, contact media specialist Tina Larson.
