High School Choir Director
Wendy Suoja, originally from Detroit Lakes, MN has worked in the White Bear Lake Area School District since 1998. In addition to conducting choirs, she also directs and produces the high school musicals. Her choirs consistently earn superior ratings at large group contest, and her musicals earn top honors through the HTT Spotlight program. Wendy was selected as the WBL district’s Teacher of the Year in 2013. She has served as the assistant vice-president for the MMEA All-State Choirs and is currently co-chairing the ACDA SSA 9-10 Honor Choirs. Wendy earned her bachelor’s degrees in Choral and Instrumental Music Education from the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University and her master’s degree in Learning Technology and Design from St. Mary’s University. In her free time, Wendy and her husband enjoy spending time at the cabin and spending time with their now adult-age son and daughter (how time flies).
Middle School Choir Directors
Nathan Thompson is the choir director at Mariner Middle School and at White Bear Lake High School where he directs the TB Choir. Originally from Roseville, Minnesota, he is in his third year teaching in the White Bear Lake school district and fifth year overall. In addition to teaching choir, Nathan also enjoys music directing the middle school musical. He received his Bachelor of Arts in K-12 Vocal Music Education from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. Nathan has also spent time teaching choir in St. Francis, MN where he directed middle school show choir and assistant directed the high school show choir program, The Bridge Street Singers. In his free time Nathan enjoys teaching private lessons, reading, playing guitar, napping, puns and gaming.

Brenna Reiland is the Central Middle School Choir Director. She heeds from White Bear Lake, MN (Go Bears!), and is more than excited to be returning to her home district. She received her Bachelor of Arts in K-12 Vocal Music Education from Luther College. She spent her past year in St. Michael-Albertville, MN, teaching choir to grades 5-8. In her free time, she enjoys trying new coffee shops around the Twin Cities, going to concerts, crafting, playing with her adorable dogs, and spending time with friends and family.
