Why should I join the PTSA?

The PTSA serves as a platform for parent and teacher involvement within our school and advocate for the opportunity for all children to achieve their highest potential.  We are a group of volunteers who wish to create a welcoming, supporting, and engaged learning community so that our children can thrive in all areas of their educational growth.

Do I need to pay a fee to join?

The Lincoln K-8 PTSA covers dues so all parents can be involved as active participants in the future of our school at no cost. A portion of these dues goes to support the work of the MN PTA and National PTA to advocate for all children at the local, state, and national level.

But, I’m just too busy…

Life is busy! Lucky for you, there are many ways in which you can support PTSA that do not require an ongoing commitment or large chunks of time. It takes ALL OF US to support our children and our school.  Here are some easy ways to get involved!

1) Attend a monthly meeting.  Our meetings are on the third Monday of each month from 6:30 - 7:30 pm (virtually) and are listed on Band.  Meetings take place in a relaxed atmosphere, place no pressure on attendees, and offer a virtual attendance option for those unable to attend.  This is a great way to meet other Lincoln parents.

2) Volunteer. We have many events throughout the year that require volunteers to be successful.  Volunteering can be as simple as helping once at a family social event, or you can join one of our committees that help plan activities and fundraisers.  Volunteering is the easiest way to fit some PTSA fun into your busy schedule!  Be sure to register with Volunteers In Education (VIE) Raptor System if you will be within the school while volunteering.

3) Spread the word. Our meetings, activities, organization, and school are at their best when families are actively engaged.  Even if you can't attend an event, help us spread the word so all families know what is happening around Lincoln and how we can best support our school community.

4) Donate.  There are many ways in which you can donate to Lincoln.

• Turn in your Hy-Vee receipts. For every $25 in receipts, Lincoln receives $1.

• Shop with Amazon Smile, adding Lincoln K-8 as your charity of choice.

• Scan your grocery receipt in the Box Tops for Education app within 14 days of purchase.  Set Lincoln K-8 as the recipient of your earnings.
