BreakoutEDU is the newest 21st Century Skill based teaching idea sweeping the country. BreakoutEDU involves teachers using games that involved collaboration, critical thinking and communication for students to "break in" by solving puzzles and unlocking different locks. Used as a review, introduction to new material or to encourage team work - the possibilities are endless.
We currently have two large and five small BreakoutEDU boxes in Princeton that can be checked out to use in your classroom. See below for a picture of what each box contains. The BreakoutEDU website has numerous published and unpublished (sandbox) games that can be incorporated into your classroom easily.
See below for a list of games from the BreakoutEDU website that have been printed and prepared for use in 477!

I've stopped using directional locks as they break too often.

Logging in to BreakoutEDU
When you go to breakoutedu.com you will need to login to have access to games. Clicking Google Login is the easiest way to quickly set up an account. Because BreakoutEDU now has paid features, when you login you will go to a Platform to search for games. Most games we can make happen for your class, we just need to get the materials prepped. Because of locks breaking and materials not being treated well, I've begun making the Breakouts a mix of digital and physical elements using Google forms for students to enter codes, yet still have codes and occasionally a lock or two around the classroom.
