Student schedule changes will be made through the School Counseling Office. Approval of schedule changes will be given on the merit of each individual case and will not be automatically approved.
A student needs to meet one of the following criteria in order to have a schedule change made:
Post Secondary entrance requirements.
Graduation issues.
Special education issues.
Dropping the second semester of a sequential course if the student failed the first semester.
Prior to the beginning of a semester, the student can change from a study hall to a class if there is room in the class and the class is the same hour as the study hall.
Administration reserves right to make schedule changes for students depending on course availability and class size.
Dropping a course after the end of one week of a semester will result in a withdrawal fail (WF) on the student’s transcript. WF’s are calculated into the student’s cumulative GPA as an “F”. Students must maintain six credits per semester. For this reason, anyone with only 6 credits will be required to find an alternate class during that period. As such, these students will be permitted to take a WF within the first month of the term and must receive teacher signatures for both the class they are dropping and the class they plan on replacing it with. Students with 7 credits on their schedule may elect to take a WF at any point in time and replace their class with a study hall.
The administrator/counselor department reserves the right to allow a student to drop a class based upon extraordinary circumstances.
