4th - 8th Grade Art

Greetings from the Art Room! I am so excited to be leading PEM's 4th - 8th graders through art. After commuting for five years to teach 5th-12th grade art elsewhere, I am thrilled to teach art in the community we've been part of since 1998.

After receiving a B.F.A. in Theatre Design from Drake University (Des Moines, Iowa), I moved to Elgin with my husband, Doug. Following a couple years working in a daycare / preschool setting, I went back to school to become an art teacher. I completed my education requirements through MSU-Mankato in the spring of 2002 and began teaching art the following fall. In December of 2005, I received my M.A.T. in Art Education, and I joined the amazing staff at PEM in 2007.

I love teaching middle school students - my favorite age group to work with - in our own community! I look forward to contributing to the positive learning environment in both the 4-6 and 7-8 buildings, and I'm excited to foster the creativity and art skills of PEM's students!
