Lifetime Fitness and Activites

FEE: There is a $40 fee for this class due by the end of the first week of class

Lifetime Fitness and Activities is a semester long course that will provide students with an understanding of the sport’s most people would consider “nontraditional.” Most times these activities are played at a less competitive level than other traditional sports and other physical education offerings. All units will be approximately 2 weeks. The instructor will teach the rules, skills, and strategies of each unit, as well as possibly lead-up games. After that, student leadership groups will be responsible for the set-up of fields and/or equipment, designation of teams, and format of competition. Approximately 1 day per week, usually Fridays, a non-unit, recreational, sometimes recently invented, game will be played with an emphasis on fun and teamwork. Furthermore this course will look, not only to increase physical abilities, but also to strengthen character as well through the emphasis of core values. The tentative units that will be covered are as follows:

  • Horseshoes

  • Golf

  • Disc Golf

  • Croquet

  • Bocce Ball

  • Bean Bag Toss

  • Ladder Golf

  • Ultimate Frisbee

  • Badminton

  • Pickle Ball

  • Bowling

  • Frisbee Golf

  • Kickball/Big Base
