RUNNING SHOES
All team members will need a pair of running shoes that will be used only for training (i.e. they are not school shoes). To get the
correct shoes, try on several brands and models when you go shopping for them. Don’t buy a shoe because it “looks good”, it has “cool
colors”, or simply because of the price. Choose a shoe that fits your needs and your feet. There are many places that sell running
shoes, but some are better than others. A few recommended running shoe stores are:
Gear @ 4406 France Avenue South in Edina. (44 th street and France Avenue) 952-926-2645
Marathon Sports @ 2312 West 50 th Street in Minneapolis (50 th St. and Penn Ave.) 612-920-2606
Start Line @ 12979 Ridgedale Drive in Minnetonka (Ridge Square North Mall) 952-593-1116
Run-n-fun @ 14240 Plymouth Ave Burnsville, MN 55337 (952) 892-7386
T.C. Running Company @ 14240 Plymouth Ave, Burnsville, MN 55337 (952) 892-7386
Where ever you go, you should expect to pay between $60 and $120 for a decent pair of running shoes. Always ask for Team
discounts. Being a member of a high school track & field team will save you at least 10% and maybe more. Try to avoid mall shoe
stores. Typically their shoes are more expensive, and their sales people are less knowledgeable.
Clothing
Weather in Minnesota is always a guessing game. During our season, the weather can vary from 85 degrees to 20 degrees not to
mention the wind chill, rain, and heat index. Track and Field teams are not like the typical athletic teams in high schools. We will
practice in just about any weather conditions within the Minnesota State High School League Guidelines. In order to be prepared, you
must stock you locker with, the following:
stocking cap
tights and or wind pants
Long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt
T-shirt
Gloves or mittens
Windbreaker or other rain resistant jacket
Dressing in layers is recommended. It makes it easier to adjust to the changing temperatures.
