Why is travel worthwhile?

Part of the experience of making music is to share it with as many people as you can in as many settings as possible. Traveling as a band offers a musical education shaped by exposure to other cultures, lifelong memories, social and musical perspectives challenged by new surroundings, strengthened relationships based on shared experiences and many other intangible benefits.

Educational travel strengthens college and job applications - it demonstrates initiative of learning, openness to different ideas and cultures, and social maturity. Traveling as a young person fosters lifelong curiosity and active citizenship in our community.

Who travels, and how often do we travel?

We take a trip every other year, and it is currently open to band students in grades 10-12 the year of the trip. Our next band trip is scheduled for Spring Break 2020.
