Curricular Bands

Designed for new high school musicians, the Symphonic Band will perform and study a wide variety of music. The band meets one period a day for the entire school year. Students develop technical proficiency on their instrument, daily large group rehearsals and concerts. Students enrolled in Symphonic Band also perform in pep band events. Students enrolled in Symphonic Band are eligible for participation in all extra-curricular program offerings through the SFHS band department.

Designed for experienced high school musicians, the Concert Band performs and studies a wide variety of musical repertoire. The band meets one period a day for the entire school year. Students must audition and have permission from the director in order to participate. Students will continue to improve technical proficiency on their instrument, daily large group rehearsals and performance opportunities. Students enrolled in Concert Band also attend pep band events and are eligible for participation in all extra-curricular program offerings through the SFHS band department.

Designed for the most advanced high school musicians, the Wind Ensemble is the premier performing instrumental ensemble at SFHS. Students must audition and have permission from the director to enroll. Students must demonstrate advanced technical proficiency, strong musical independence, and social maturity to remain a member of this ensemble. The Wind Ensemble performs advanced high school and early college level repertoire. Members of the Wind Ensemble attend annual MSHSL Large Group and Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students enrolled in Wind Ensemble perform in concerts and pep band events.
