Kindergarten in the BCE Music Room

Kindergarten music is all about exploring and having fun with singing, dancing, playing games, and different musical instruments.

What's new in music class?

Kindergarteners are exploring their singing voices, working on matching pitch, and moving safely around the music room in different musical ways.

Want to know more? Ask your student to:

  • Sing one of our current songs for you: "Pumpkin, Pumpkin," "Let's Hide the Pumpkin," and "Walk and Stop."
  • Tell you about our singing target.
  • Show you how they can create a voice warm-up with their voice and their hands.

Power Standards for Kindergarten Music:

I can:

  • Find and explore my 4 voices (sing, speak, whisper, call).
  • Match pitch and sing in tune.
  • Keep a steady beat while singing, chanting, or listening to a song.
  • Identify sounds as loud/soft, fast/slow, smooth/jumpy, and high/low.
  • Play unpitched percussion instruments such as rhythm sticks, egg shakers, hand drums, guiros, and triangles.
  • Explore xylophone sounds.
