CAS supervision.

Support Monitor Review.

Supervisor's role

There are three main components of the CAS supervisor role:

- Help students set goals

- Monitor progress

- Submit a very brief activity review

What is the time commitment?

Supervising CAS activities should not require a significant time commitment. Only one meeting with the student is required. During this meeting you will help the student set goals and agree to be a supervisor.

Most activities take place in your presence, during sports practice, club meetings or discovery week. Other activities may take place without you being present, but will result in tangible evidence that the CAS experience has occurred.

Please see CAS Reflections for more details on the variety of CAS reflections students can create.

Students are expected to log their experiences in Managebac.com and show evidence of reflection for every three-five hours of CAS experience.

These logs can be seen with your username and password. If you need help with Managebac please contact the CAS Coordinator, Ms. Paul LENNON (paull@faculty.isd.sn).

When an activity is complete students will request a final review through Managebac. The review process involves completing a brief form on Managebac. This can be completed in 5-10 minutes.

What is a good CAS experience?

There is detailed explanations of all aspects of CAS under the CAS Guidelines tab on the left side of the screen.

Three good resources for determining appropriateness of CAS experiences are:

All CAS experiences should address one or more of the CAS Learning Outcomes.

What are good CAS goals?

CAS goals will vary student by student.

Good CAS goals are:

- Are specific

- Are measurable

- Push students outside of their comfort zone

- Push students to try something new

- Have real consequences

When do students start logging CAS ?

Students cannot begin documenting CAS until they have found someone who has agreed to be their CAS supervisor and a goal setting meeting has taken place.

Students may not ask you to be a supervisor for an activity that they have already completed.
