CAS expectations

CAS: What do students need to do, know and understand?

Students are expected to complete the following in order fulfill the requirements of CAS:

  • Familiarize yourself with CAS website and ManageBac
  • Balanced between creativity, activity and service
  • 3 Interviews with CAS Coordinator/Advisor
  • Complete a CAS project
  • Propose, plan, action, and reflect through ManageBac
  • One reflection for every 5 hours of CAS Experience
  • All Learning Outcomes are addressed throughout the program
  • 10-15 Activities (some big, some small)

CAS EXPERIENCES AND REFLECTIONS:

Learning Outcomes are key to the process and must all be covered.

Reflections must be in line with the expectations outlined on this site and detailed in managebac.

Balance* between all three components of CAS.

Sufficient CAS Program will include all of the above and be detailed by 30-50 reflections by the end of DP 2.

Each Learning Outcome will be attempted 2 or more times.

Insufficient CAS Program will probably;

Show 1 or more Outcomes not attempted at all

Include less than 20 reflections, often of low quality

*Balance implies that each CAS category - Creativity, Activity, Service - will be equally spread between these three components . Each category will be comprised of several activities - some large, some small, some in your comfort zone and some that are new and unfamiliar. A category can’t be completed with only one activity.
