Ana Paiva

Ana Paiva is a full professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IST (“Instituto Superior Técnico”) from the University of Lisbon and coordinator of the “Research Group on AI for People and the Society”.

Patrícia Arriaga

Patrícia Arriaga is a professor in the department of Social and Organizational Psychology at Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon, and a member of the Center of Research and Social Intervention (CIS-IUL) and of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists.

Rui Prada

Rui Prada is an associate professor at the Computer Science Department of IST – UL, and a senior researcher at INESC-ID. He is co-author of the book “Design e Desenvolvimento de Jogos” and co-founder of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Ciências dos Videojogos (SPCV).


Louis-Philippe Morency

Louis-Philippe Morency is a professor at CMU Language Technology Institute, where he leads the Multimodal Communication and Machine Learning Laboratory (MultiComp Lab).

PhD candidates

Raquel Oliveira

Raquel Oliveira is a PhD candidate from the Department of Social and Organizational Psychology at Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon and a member of the Center of Research and Social Intervention (CIS-IUL). Her main research interests include Humor, Human-Robot Interaction in entertainment settings and social psychology.

João Barreiros

João Barreiros has a degree in Psychology, and a Master in Social and Organizational Psychology, and has been working as a research assistant in several projects over the past years, in the field of social psychology.

He is a PhD student at Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon, and his work is about prosocial behavior selectivity, cooperation, egoistic and altruistic motivations, empathy, and morality issues.


Inês Batina

Inês Batina is 23 years old and has a master's degree in engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST).

She is currently applying for a Ph.D. in the same area from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IST, where she works on the interaction between people and intelligent agents.
