Description :
Eden West’s first novel is a mixture of morality and romance. Against the backdrop of the relationship between Silas and Sebastian, the author takes a slightly different view of the often black and white conflict between the young progressive generation and their more traditional parents, avoiding the "we-good, you-bad" divide. There are no clear-cut answers here, no idealization or stereotypes of social groups, and the story focuses on the shadows and the individual journey of each person.
Silas begins his final semester as an art student with an unexpected collision with an intriguing man. This is the new drawing teacher Sebastian Nolan, a widower who is trying to rebuild his life after the tragic death of her husband.
At the same time, Silas feels excluded from the LGBTQ+ community, despite his bisexuality. He believes this goes against his traditional values. He only dates girls, avoiding relationships with people of his own sex. Sebastian, however, awakens in him a desire for what the boy has repressed for so long, even if a relationship between a student and a teacher can violate social taboos. The crisis in Silas' life worsens when his family, which had been stable until then, begins to disintegrate and he finds himself attracted to the rector’s daughter.
Is the relationship between the student and the teacher likely to survive? Is love possible between people with a great difference in experience? Can a simple mistake lead to tragedy?
