In one of the parent coffee sessions recently, you asked for the student perspective on technology and social media use. In response to this we asked the students a range of questions which fell primarily into three categories: 1.) What do you feel is most misunderstood about your technology/social media use; 2.) what are some of the things you do to mitigate digital distraction; and 3.) what is the greatest benefit of technology in learning?

The responses were interesting and along with tips and tricks the students use to keep the upper hand on their technology use, it was good to see that students are actively thinking about this issue and are open to discussing the experience and the positives and negatives of it. Like other successful initiatives we will be turning this panel discussion into a series on a variety of topics where we ask students to unpack their experience. Hopefully this will help contribute to deepening our understanding as parents and teachers of the world they are living and learning in.
