ISB Firewall and Content Filtering Protocols

At ISB we employ a robust, two tier Firewall System (FortiGate) that is an industry standard Firewall; and then a second tier protocol suited to our educational context (FortiGuard). Some examples of what FortiGuard does are offer antivirus on our network, intrusion security from external threats and application control for discouraged uses of our network - torrents, game portals, etc. In addition to offering these services, our system will allow for the differentiation for the type of user who will encounter them. For example, the set of rules that govern the internet browsing experience will be different for a Senior School student than from a Junior School student. We are currently in the process of finalizing this process and it will be in effect by SY 2029/20.

As with all systems, ours is one in which updates are constantly being made to match the ever-changing environment we work and teach in. At the heart of this system is student safety and ability to learn in a welcoming and safe environment. Our updates and upgrades are made with this in mind and always looking to ensure the best learning can happen whilst making sure our students feel welcome and are able to participate at their best.
