The Community Project provides students with an essential opportunity to demonstrate the attributes of the IB learner profile and develop key skills that prepare them for success in further study, the workplace, and the community
The Community Project promotes the development of the IB learner profile attributes in several ways:
Inquirers: Students are encouraged to inquire about the needs of their community and identify a goal to address those needs.
Thinkers: Students are required to think critically and creatively to develop a proposal for action to address the identified needs.
Communicators: Students are expected to communicate their research findings and proposals to their supervisors, mentors, and teachers.
Risk-takers: Students are encouraged to take risks by pursuing service learning and collaborating with others to achieve their goals.
Knowledgeable: Students are expected to apply their prior learning in their MYP subjects and Christian Studies to contribute to the completion of their Community Project.
Principled: Students are expected to develop a proposal for action that is ethical and responsible.
Caring: Students are encouraged to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect for their community by addressing its needs.
Open-minded: Students are expected to identify the global context of their project and consider different perspectives and solutions.
Balanced: Students are expected to balance their academic work with their community project and other commitments.
Reflective: Students are encouraged to reflect on their learning and the outcomes of their work throughout the project.
