Professional Standards for Staff
Whilst we acknowledge that there are differences across different staff teams, the following standards are rooted in the belief that all of us need to:
feel connected to the story of the school (STORY)
demonstrate competencies in a particular field (PROCESS)
work collaboratively with those around us (PEOPLE).
What does this mean in practice for staff?
Because of the diversity of functions across staff teams, as well as different levels of experience, we do not believe in a one size fits all model.
However we do adhere to the following principles:
All staff should participate in and produce evidence of continuous professional growth.
All staff should regularly identify a growth opportunity based on the standards outlined above.
All staff should document their learning in some kind of growth record.
All supervisors should have at least one learning conversation per year with direct reports. Ideally, there will be more than one conversation (some informal) during the course of any year.
Growth is not the same as promotion and therefore does not impact compensation.
As with faculty, staff may be placed on an intervention pathway in the event that they experience difficulties and require more structured support and a structured improvement plan. More details about this process can be found here.
