Guiding Principles

The Covid-19 pandemic has presented many challenges to the ISA community. Beginning in the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic year, students, families, teachers and staff were faced with the prospect of switching from a traditional model of education to a distance learning model with little advance warning. In spite of the difficulties presented by the sudden changes in the instructional model, the community rose to the occasion and completed the academic year with grit, perseverance and determination. Many thanks are owed to the students, teachers, parents, staff and administrators for the adaptability and determination that continually demonstrated our shared belief that “we are all in this together.”

As we move into the 2020-2021 academic year, the pandemic persists and uncertainty about the future abounds. The school leadership teams, in consultation with faculty and staff, are preparing several scenarios that will allow the school and its stakeholders to continue to adapt and adjust to the continually evolving health crisis. Because of the evolving nature of the crisis, a basic premise in the development of these different scenarios is the principle of flexibility, with the end result being an ability to move from one plan to another whilst still maintaining commitment to the mission, vision and beliefs that form the foundation of an ISA education.
