Our goal at IS 349 is to provide all of our students with the skills they need to be successful in college and beyond. Our school offers a rich curriculum to reach this goal, with an emphasis on student-centered learning. We provide opportunities for all students to engage in thought-provoking and rigorous work.
Technology is at the core of what we do. Promethean boards in each room allow students to interactively engage in their lessons. Chromebooks, iPads, and Android tablets allow students to build their technology fluency and complete their work in the cloud. This saves paper and allows students to build an impressive portfolio they can take with them for years to come. Each of our students also has access to i-Ready, an adaptive cloud-based program that provides targeted interventions to support their growth in English Language Arts and Math. This program has a proven track record of improving student achievement.
Every student has participated in the Salvadori Center Bridges Class, a hands on approach to STEM education that focuses on exploring our local community to better understand the real world problems and develop solutions to solve them.
Our school also provides an extended learning day, providing an extra hour of instruction every day.
