Program Overview
Purpose and Learning Outcomes
The success of last year's Adventure Week is a testament that a week of learning outside the classroom has holistic benefits for students. In our students, we witnessed the excitement of visiting a new country in the company of close friends which was a special experience for many. We heard positive and fun stories of cooking and sampling new foods, discovering cultures, participating in adventurous activities, and simple pleasures like buying a souvenir for a beloved family member and trying doughnut flavours that are not available in Hong Kong.
This year’s various trips too are designed to meet aspects of art, culture, community service and outdoor adventure. These immersive experiences will encourage students to adapt to various situations, collaborate with peers and expand their existing understanding of the world around them.
For international travel or the overnight camp in Hong Kong, this may be the longest that some students will be away from home without a family member. This may be interesting or daunting. Whatever your feelings, this is an incredible opportunity for growth as students learn to navigate unfamiliar situations. They may not realise it but students will emerge wiser at the end of Adventure Week.
Lastly, we hope that the informal setting of trips allows for more relaxed interactions between teachers and students forging better relationships. Overall, Adventure Week will fulfill our aim of providing growth opportunities for our students while strengthening student-teacher connections that are imperative for a happy and comfortable school environment.
Sincerely,
