GRADES


  • Grades will be recorded weekly in our online grade book PowerSchool. Login information was sent home in your open house folder or picked up during open house (if you need another copy please let your Child's homeroom teacher know).


  • For the school year 2022-2023, the following grading system will be in place for Fifth Grade at ICES:

  • If your child is absent, it is still their responsibility to learn and complete the missing assignments that were given in class. Therefore, your child has 4 days, from the day of absence, to complete all missing assignments in each subject. Your child will receive a zero for any missed work.

COMMUNICATION

  • Please make sure you have given your child's teacher an email address and/or phone number that you check daily. Also, please make sure to update her with an changes throughout the year.

  • We communicate news, events, and information on our website. Our goal is to update this weekly, but information may be added at anytime, so check often to stay informed!

  • We also communicate through REMIND 101. Find out remind codes on the contact page. Feel free to text anytime.

  • Graded paper folders will come home every other week, usually on Thursday. Please make sure to look through papers and sign.

  • Communication logs will come home every Thursday. Please make sure to sign them and return on Friday morning. (If there is an area of concern there will be a specific behavior circled that was addressed in class. Please take time to discuss ways the child can improve in that area.)

  • If there is a change in your child's dismissal, please call the school at 229-468-9476, and let Mrs. Griffin know. This MUST be done before 2:00. She will let your child's homeroom teacher know.

CELL PHONES/SMART WATCHES

  • Your child may not have his/her possession a beeper, cell phone. or any other electronic communication device that are visible or in use during the school day. The school will not assume responsibility of any loss.

  • 1st Offense: Confiscate device and return to student at the end of the day.

  • 2nd Offence: Confiscate device and parent/guardian may pick up device from the principal.

DRESS CODE

  • Students are NOT to wear:

  • Glitter, glitter paint, paint or stickers on the skin or in the hair.

  • Drawings or writings on the skin.

  • Shirts or any clothing that exposes the midriff (stomach) area.

  • Inappropriate bicycle shorts or cutoff shorts.

  • Shorts worn by girls in 3rd through 5th grades must be hemmed to a length equal to the student’s fingertips held to the side of the legs

  • Students who wear tights/leggings must wear appropriate length tops. • Jeans with holes above the knees.

  • Open sided muscle shirts. • Tank tops, spaghetti-strap tops, halter-tops, tube tops, or fishnet tops.

  • Clothing which suggests pornography or obscenity in any manner.

  • Clothing which advertises the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or gang affiliation.

  • Sunglasses, sun visors, caps, hats, stocking caps, or inappropriate headbands

  • Clothing or hairstyles that pose a distraction to the educational environment.

  • Excessively long fingernails that interfere with work or play.

  • Earrings (applicable to males only).

  • Pants unsecured at the waist (sagging).

FOOD AND DRINKS

LUNCH:

  • Lunch is every day from 11:30-12:00.

WATER BOTTLES:

  • Students are encouraged to bring water bottles to keep in the classroom and take outside on hot days. Please do NOT freeze the water bottle the night before. This causes condensation on the water bottle leaving the desks wet. If water bottles become a distraction, they will be asked to put them away. Please ONLY send water in the bottles. Other drinks are sticky and aren't as easy to clean if spilled.
