Landforms

• Mountain - an area of land much higher than the land surrounding it

• Hill - a rounded area of land - lower than a mountain

• Valley - low land between mountains or hills

• Plateau - an area of land higher than the land around it with a flat top

• Canyon - a deep, narrow valley with steep sides - it usually has a river running through it

• Plain - a large, flat area of land without many trees

• Peninsula - a piece of land with water surrounding it on three sides

• Island - a piece of land completely surrounded by water
