The 5th International Congress on the Anthropology of Salt: A Retrospective Overview

Resum 

Aquest article presenta una visió retrospectiva del 5è Congrés Internacional d’Antropologia de la Sal, celebrat a la Universitat de Rzeszów l’any 2025. Des de la seva creació el 2015 a Romania, el congrés ha evolucionat fins a esdevenir una plataforma reconeguda a escala mundial per al diàleg interdisciplinari sobre la importància cultural, tecnològica i històrica de la sal en les societats humanes. Aquest treball resumeix l’evolució del congrés, reflexiona sobre els assoliments de la seva cinquena edició i exposa les línies futures d’aquesta iniciativa acadèmica en curs.

Abstract

This article presents a retrospective overview of the 5th International Congress on the Anthropology of Salt, held at the University of Rzeszów in 2025. Since its inception in 2015 in Romania, the Congress has evolved into a globally recognized platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on the cultural, technological, and historical significance of salt in human societies. This paper summarizes the development of the Congress, reflects on the achievements of the fifth edition, and outlines future directions for this ongoing scholarly initiative.
