Sp. 2 Expectations

The grades for this class are directly related to the expectations! Of utmost importance is interpersonal communication:

  • Make eye contact.

  • Listen with the intent to understand

  • Give Sra. the signal when you don't understand.

  • Respond to questions.

  • No blurting or side conversations in English.

Grades

Spelling, grammar, and vocabulary awre not the focus of language acquisition. Making corrections, conjugating verbs, and endless grammar drills are the the focus either. Comprehension and communication are the focus. Therefore, grades are heavily weighted on the students' abilities to adhere to the expectations listed above. This ensures that they receive as much comprehensible input in Spanish as possible.

Here's the breakdown:

  • Interpersonal Communication = 25% (Class Participation)

  • Homework = 15%

  • Formative Assessments = 27% (Quizzes, written work)

  • Summative Assessments= 33% (Written paragraphs - 2 each quarter)

Homework

In Spanish 2 we will have weekly homework. It's my policy to start it in class and that way I can see if they have any problems. If it is handed in after the time I collect it, it is considered late. For each day late I will deduct 10 points (up to 50 points). If you receive a grade that you find unsatisfactory, talk to me about how you can make corrections to receive half the credit you missed (example: you received a 50, but make corrections: it’s now a 75).
