The Indian River Theatre of the Performing Arts

Is home to the Indian River Drama Club, Indian River Stage Crew Club and International Thespian Society Troupe # 4958. It is an award-winning High School theatrical arts program comprised of students and staff from Indian River High School in Philadelphia, NY. The groups support many community endeavors while simultaneously engaging the surrounding region through theatrical arts and education opportunities. Currently led by Director and Theatre Teacher Kristie Farr, the program holds memberships with the Theatre Association of NY State and the International Thespian Honor Society.

The IRTPA also houses all of the Indian River Central School District Music Department performances. This includes vocal, instrumental and orchestral music performances from five grades K-3 primary schools, a grades 4-5 intermediate school, a grade 6-8 middle school and a grades 9-12 high school. State and area festivals including Jefferson-Lewis Bi-County, NYSSMA Area All-State and NYSSMA Area Majors are also held at the facility. More information on our Music Department can be found here.

The IRTPA is available for rental to outside groups and organizations contingent upon schedule availability. The IRTPA will also consider loan of theatrical property (hand props) and costumes. More information about requesting facility use and property loan can be found here.

The IRTPA is part of the Indian River Central School District, which encompasses 284 square miles (including Federal property) in northern Jefferson and southern St. Lawrence County in New York. The vision of the District is as follows: In providing a comprehensive educational program, IRCSD will advance, serve, and contribute to the growth and wellness of our communities. Indian River prides itself in offering a robust, well rounded UPK-12th-grade educational program to approximately 4000 students. Indian River has made great strides in provision of STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics) instruction to students so as to ensure that they are well prepared for future careers and higher education.
