An Overview of Curriculum and Instruction at IRCSD

Curriculum Councils

Curriculum Councils have met throughout the year to initiate the curriculum review process. We began with a vertical alignment  exercise and gained a “snapshot” view of what our students learn throughout the year. A number of the resources used within each area as well as links to the NYSED standards are highlighted as well.

Each school and grade level is [intended to be] represented in each of the curriculums. You will see a list of the committee members below so if at any time you would like to express a concern or have a question, hopefully you can find one that you can easily get in contact with. We will be reviewing curriculum on a deeper level, updating standards work, exploring resources and reviewing professional development possibilities.  We will meet a maximum of four times throughout the year.

In the following pages, you will see each council highlighted and some of the key aspects of each curriculum that we would like to be sure each teacher understands. We will highlight any District initiatives that we are doing as well. While we like to allow each teacher to have some flexibility and ownership within their classroom, it is critical that we utilize district sponsored programs and district approved resources and professional development.

Whether you may be new to IR or a veteran, we hope this is a resource and a guide as we move forward.
