• • The 2010 Waubonsie Valley girls’ soccer team entered the season hungry to prove they still belonged as one of the state’s top teams. After ending their 2009 season earlier than they had hoped, they entered the ‘10 campaign on a mission. The 2010 Warriors were led by Head Coach Julie Bergstrom, Peter Lambert, Josh Robinson, Brian Grider, Jen Vanderploeg, and Sammy Somola. The 2010 team completed the season by winning the UpState Eight Conference with an 8-0-2 record and finishing the season with an overall record of 23-1-4. The 2010 Waubonsie Valley Girls Soccer team finished the season ranked number four (4) in the nation by the NSCAA and number one (1) in the nation by ESPN. During the Warriors third state championship season in four years the girls once again showed their dominance on the pitch. The team compiled a total of twenty (20) shutouts while only giving up nine (9) goals on the entire season.

Members of the 2010 State Championship Girls Soccer Team include: (1) Allison Fox, (2) Rachele Armand, (3) Jenna Romano, (6) Cayla Budd, (8) Kerri Skotnicki, (10) Vanessa Dibernardo, (11) Kelly Taylor, (12) Rachel Miller, (13) Karla DiJohn, (14) Katie Shanahan, (15) Shannon Donelson, (16) Hayley O’Connell, (17) Hannah Klancic, (18) Chelsea Stoeckigt, (19) Jordan Myers, (20) Jillian Staton, (21) Jessica Price, (22) Michelle Filipek, (23) Elena Bickel, (24) Colleen Gorkis, (25) Megan Green, (26) Mary Wright, & (27) Kendall Wilde. The Warriors finished the season with five (5) UEC All-Conference selections, they included Rachele Armand, Vanessa DiBernardo, Allison Fox, Colleen Gorkis, and Megan Green. Mary Wright, Kerri Skotnicki, & Jenna Romano earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. All-Sectional recipients included Vanessa DiBernardo and Megan Green while Rachele Armand received All-Sectional Honorable Mention honors. In addition, Vanessa DiBernardo received the following awards: All-State, All-Midwest, NSCAA All-American, Illinois Gatorade, IHSSCA, Chicago Sun-Times, Naperville Sun, and Beacon Player of the Year. The 2010 Waubonsie Valley Girls Soccer Team goes down as one of the best teams in school history capping of their third State Championship in four years!!
