Claude Monet (1840-1926) was the founder of an art movement called Impressionism. This style of art rejected the realistic paintings that were the style of the day. Monet was more concerned with colors and lighting at various times of the day or year and less interested in realistic details.
Diana Al-Hadid (born 1981) constructs large scale sculptures and installations. She chooses to use unconventional materials such as fiberglass, foam and wax. This challenges her to understand the limits of these materials and pushes her into unforeseen directions.
