Shahzia Sikander (born 1969) specializes in Indian and Persian miniature painting in which she uses personal context and history.

Roxanne Swentzell (born 1962) creates clay figures that reflect her Native American culture. An important figure that reoccurs in her artwork is the koshare. The job of the koshare is to relay difficult messages through humor and mime.
