Georges Seurat (1859-1891) created a style of painting known as pointillism. If looked at very closely, you will see that he uses many dots of paint to create his paintings. As you move further away from the painting, the dot blend together to create the images and variety of colors. How did Seurat know which color dots to use to make the mixed color effect?
Chris Jordan (born 1963) makes conceptual art. His art work has a profound social message. He uses data to inspire his artwork. He often uses large number of materials arranged in his image to show the data about significant social issues. The video above depicts 106,000 soda cans, the number used every 30 seconds in the United States. Click HERE to see a video with more of Jordan's amazing art.
Make a plan
Picture it in your mind
Imagine the final artwork
Let your plan change as you work
Think about what to do next
I CAN picture ideas in my mind for my artwork
I CAN get ideas for my artwork by sketching and planning
I CAN decide on the next steps by asking, "What if...?"
I CAN let my ideas change as I work
