Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica

La SHH (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, or Spanish Honor Society) is a selective academic, cultural and service-based national student group sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese

Admittance and participation in the Sociedad is not automatic, but rather a process based on a variety of national and local chapter standards. 

The criteria include - but are not limited to - the following:


After receiving your teacher's recommendation and being invited to attend SHH meetings, potential members must also demonstrate:

Students who are at least sophomores, currently in Spanish 3 or above, and are interested in applying for membership should let their current Spanish teacher know as soon as possible so that they (their teacher) can better evaluate if that student might be a good fit for SHH. An informational meeting for students who earn a recommendation is typically held at the end of first semester or the beginning of the second semester.
