Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica

Admittance and participation in the Sociedad is not automatic, but rather a process based on a variety of national and local chapter standards. 

The criteria include - but are not limited to - the following:

• At least a sophomore in Spanish 3

• Outstanding participation in class, strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude; demonstrated responsibility and voluntarily helping others

• Genuine interest in improving Spanish skills and learning more about Spanish-speaking cultures

• An "A" average in Spanish (3.6 GPA for all Spanish classes taken at the high school level) and a 3.5 GPA overall

• Enrollment in the next level of Spanish for the following year

• Strong recommendation from current Spanish teacher

• SHH sponsor's approval

After receiving your teacher's recommendation and being invited to attend SHH meetings, potential members must also demonstrate:

• Consistent attendance at our meetings every other week (after being invited to attend)

• Support and promotion of Spanish language study via SHH activities, fundraisers, volunteer work and other events promoted by the Society

• 10 hours of community service per school year with SHH (+/- 5 hours per semester)

• NO incidences of academic dishonesty or other misconduct
