About Me

August,  2022

Dear Fourth Grade Families,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Kevin Whyte and I am honored to be your child’s fourth grade teacher. This is my nineteenth year of teaching, and fifthteenth year teaching fourth grade. I previously taught second grade for four years. I spent ten years teaching at Peterson Elementary, before starting a new chapter at Brooks 7 years ago! I am a graduate of Aurora University earning a Bachelors of Education degree in 2005. I also earned a Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University-Chicago in 2009.

I have been married to my high-school sweetheart, Kristina, since 2008.  We have two rambunctious boys, James (12), and Matthew (9). We also have two 13-year-old miniature schnauzers, Hope and Sadie.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead. While last school year looked extremely different from years past, I am hoping that this year begins to bring a bit more normalcy back to school. Regardless, I am dedicated to providing an engaging and rigorous learning experience to all of my students.

I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note, email me at kevin_whyte@ipsd.org, or call me at 630-375-3474. During the day it will be difficult to respond to emails and phone calls. If something requires immediate attention, please call the office at 630-375-3200. I will also do my part by updating our class’s Google site each week to update you on what we have been doing in class, as well as things that are upcoming. For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone, send a note home, or email you.

Please feel free to participate in your child’s fourth-grade year as much as you are able. Helping hands will be needed on a frequent basis. Whether it is reading a story to the class, helping with field trips, or any other participation, it will enrich our classroom experiences.

I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!

Sincerely,

Mr. Kevin Whyte
