Online Certificate Course on
ecology, environment and Sustainability
Organised by the Department of Environmental Studies under the aegis of Centre for Earth Studies
18 August – 15 September 2020
The pressing challenge of dealing with contemporary environmental issues calls for interdisciplinary integration of research, outreach, and education. The need for ensuring sustainable use of natural resources and simultaneously fulfill the demands of economic growth necessitates a thorough understanding of various aspects of ecology and environment. Advances in agricultural and environmental sustainability, public health and nutrition, and economic and social well-being call for systemic and interdisciplinary research, which in turn require mechanisms for developing partnerships and collaboration. In response to these needs, we propose to launch an interdisciplinary Online Certificate Course in ‘Ecology, Environment and Sustainability (EES)’ to expand opportunities for graduate training and faculty collaboration across several colleges of the University with a strong focus on methods and policy issues. With a strong and established department of Environmental Studies and an active research and learning centre ‘Centre for Earth Studies’, Indraprastha College for Women is uniquely positioned to expand education and training in this increasingly important area.
This Online Certificate Program in Ecology, Environment and Sustainability (EES) is designed to train and mentor an increasingly diverse cohort of interdisciplinary students and researchers and equip them to find innovative solutions to environmental challenges and need for sustainable use of natural resources. The certificate program will strengthen communication across the curriculum among faculty and students from different disciplines.
