FEBRUARY 2024 

The great weather in  February  was a blessing to get the  foundation work with mortar completed with warm days and nights!!!.  Main floor beams good shape, some repair or replace with same era of  band boards.  Like stones added where missing or not matching, deteriorated and or wrong kind of mortar removed, stones reset with proper type and color mortar.  Era Cast iron ventilation grill properly installed in center north wall foundation with screen to prevent smaller type entries.  Debris removed around foundation.  Smoothing of area and some added black dirt to restore drainage away from all sides of the foundation.

Some repair to lower approximately 4' of  the Cedar "Shiplap Siding"  on the main part  of the building with matching cedar reclaimed, cleaned, shiplap siding from same era building and similar color. Notice the difference in the photos.  Also notice the beam along the north side  and the floor joists peeking out,  sturdy and strong after all these years!!!!!    

The entryway-coal room-porch which must have been added later as was not the quality of construction as Main part and did not ever have a good similar stone foundation now has a  solid footing that floats on the ground like the main foundation.  Wood repair or replace for rim joists, studs.  A new era style 6 panel wood locking door and repair or replaced framing.   The entry way had what was known as  "Dutch Lap"  siding.   About 4' up on the entry way walls the siding was damaged, deteriorated, and has been replaced with matching reclaimed cleaned  siding from same era buildings, some   is also close to the same color.   Inside the entryway/ coal room again,  matching  never painted,  reclaimed, cleaned  flooring from same era building  used to repair or  replace missing or  absent boards.  

Ready for next  phase  now that  school is leveled, squared,  solid  and secure.
