Iowa Corrections offers a competitive salary and benefits in comparison to other public employment and other state corrections departments. Starting salaries often start around $40,000 per year, with the opportunity for yearly increases. You will also have the opportunity to receive training that will allow you to advance in your profession, and as you do, be compensated accordingly. This is all in addition to competitive benefits such as vacation, State insurance for individuals or family plans, sick leave, and the IPERS retirement system.

Many different positions. One team.

In Iowa Corrections, there are many different types of positions, and most team members change between these positions over the course of their career. Some may start as a correctional officer, but may eventually want to become a counselor, a trades leader, or work their way up in the security-side of corrections and become a prison security director or warden.
