The Institute of Mathematics and Applications (IMA), located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in India, is an academic institution that was established by the Government of Odisha in 1999. Its dual purposes are to conduct advanced research in pure and applied mathematics, and to provide postgraduate education leading to Masters and PhD degrees in mathematics, computation, computational finance and data science. The institute also runs training programs in schools aimed at increasing mathematics awareness and leading to competitions such as the Mathematics Olympiads. It is affiliated to Utkal University which is one of the largest affiliating universities. In the last several years since its inception, consistent with its aims and objectives, it has been active in searching and nurturing talents in mathematics by organizing training and interactive camps for successful students in various mathematical Olympiad tests. It has engaged itself in exploring the applicability of mathematical ideas in exotic areas of studies such as studies on heat wave, cyclone, wetland management etc., besides its engagement in traditional research in various disciplines of mathematics.

From Biju Patnaik International Airport: The easiest way to reach Institute of Mathematics & Applications, Bhubaneswar from the Airport is to book an OLA or Uber cab. From City Centre: The best way to reach the Institute of Mathematics & Applications, Bhubaneswar from the city is by public transport. The bus stand nearest to the Institute is called Kalinga Studio Square which is 3.4 kms from the institute. Any MoBus with Route No. 21S, 22S, and 23 going to SUM Hospital can be boarded and drop at Kalinga Studio Square.
One will have to board an auto from Kalinga Studio Square towards Chandaka. The popular local term for the Institute is “Mathematics College Andharua”. The availability of buses from the city and the autos from Kalinga Studio Square start reducing by 6 p.m.
The auto drivers in the city of Bhubaneswar are known for their honesty. They are generally reluctant to come to Institute of Mathematics and Applications from the city since they do not get passengers on the way back. It is hence not unusual for auto drivers to demand 1.5 times the usual price when they come to Institute of Mathematics & Applications, Bhubaneswar from the city and 2 times the usual price at night.
