Colleges and Universities will accept both the ACT and SAT. It is always best to review application requirements to review the average acceptance score.
Review both tests (even take a practice test of each) to determine which test fits your testing style best.
ACT/SAT Concordance Table - they not equate scores, but rather provide a tool that allows students and professionals to compare scores from similar assessments to inform decisions.
At least twice! Once you have found the test that fits your style best, the more times you take it, the better your chance to improve.
Each time you take a test, the best way to improve on the next test is to review the answers you got wrong and practice those questions. (There are certain tests in which you can purchase your results, they key and the explanations to help you do this!)
Some colleges will Super Score your exam by taking the highest score from each section on different tests.
Take the PSAT or a practice SAT/ACT at least once before your junior year.
Use your junior year to take a test in the fall and in the spring.
If you are not satisfied with your scores, you can always take the test one more time during the fall of your senior year.
Use the style that works best for you!

Each college has different expectations.
Some colleges are Test Optional, meaning you do not need to submit a standardized test score at all.
Some colleges have a minimum test score requirement.
Some colleges will "superscore", which means they will take your top scores (from the same type test) and recalculate your score for the best combined result.
SAT- is run by College Board. You will need to create an account at collegeboard.org
You will then choose the location and test date
You can choose to take the test with or without the essay portion
ACT- you need to create an account through act.org
You will then choose the location and test date
You can choose to not take the essay and you can also choose to only retake the sections you would like to improve upon.
Test scores must be sent through each of these organizations.
You can choose to only send your best overall test.
You may choose to submit multiple scores if they reflect different strengths. Some schools “SuperScore” and will recalculate your scores for the best total.
