Goal 3: TRANSPORTATION

This goal explores ways we can improve transportation for all modes in Downtown.

We need to design active, multi-modal streets and ensure that transit is safe and accessible for everyone to use. Please review the slideshow of proposed strategies, below. Click the arrow to the right of the first slide to get started:

IDEA #1: What if we created a system of Boulevards Downtown?

Many Downtown streets are too wide and parks are not connected. There is an opportunity to create a network of boulevards that would expand green space throughout Downtown. These boulevards present an opportunity to add amenities that encourage walking and more activity.

IDEA #2: What if we redesigned Tucker Boulevard?

KEY DESIGN FEATURES:

New wide landscaped median
Wider sidewalks, new bike lanes, emphasis on transit stations
Public art in excess space along the street
Better connection over railyard to neighborhoods to the south
Added lights at night

IDEA #3: What if we made MetroLink a preferred option for getting to and from Downtown?

Transit is important to Downtowns of all sizes. MetroLink is extraordinarily well-connected to major institutions, Downtown, the airport, and spans two states. But, ridership is low.
