We recently hosted an engaging two-day IIoT workshop at True Digital Park on October 3-4, where participants from private companies and freelancers came together to explore key concepts and hands-on learning with OCTOBUS.
This IIoT workshop was part of our joint collaboration under the project "Digital Transformation for SMEs in Thailand", funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation in Thailand and the Thailand Science Research and Innovation Fund, coordinated by King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), in partnership with integrationWorks Asia/OCTOBUS and FESTO Didactic.
On day one, Harold Gelilio (Senior Training and Development Consultant at FESTO Didactic) guided participants through extracting data from Festo machines and programming on edge devices. Day two saw Pichayagone Mahaadthai (Senior IoT Consultant at iWorks Asia) introducing the cloud concept of IoT platforms, where attendees worked on creating preventive maintenance solutions using real-time and historical data from FESTO machines integrated with OCTOBUS.
The interactive sessions provided a solid foundation for attendees to develop their own IoT projects, and it was exciting to see such enthusiastic engagement throughout!
Following the successful kick-off of our joint collaboration under the project "Digital Transformation for SMEs in Thailand," funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, Thailand, and the Thailand Science Research and Innovation Fund, coordinated by King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in partnership with integrationWorks Asia/OCTOBUS and FESTO Didactic, we have recently commenced our first project activities.
Our C-level IIoT awareness workshops, held on July 19th and August 7th, were well attended by over 20 participants from various industrial sectors, as well as consultants, government officials, and academic representatives. After a brief introduction on the opportunities, benefits, and challenges in the field of IIoT by Mr. Ralf Opierzynski from integrationWorks Asia and Mr. Fou Teck Kong from FESTO Didactic Asia, we engaged in moderated interactive sessions where individual perspectives, obstacles, and strategies were discussed.
More IIoT awareness workshops for SME top management, technical training sessions for automation experts, and IIoT pilot implementation projects using the OCTOBUS platform are on the horizon.
We would like to announce the beginning of an exciting collaboration under the project "Digital Transformation for SMEs in Thailand," funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, Thailand/Thailand Science Research and Innovation Fund. Coordinated by the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) and partnered with integrationWorks Asia Co., Ltd./OCTOBUS, and Festo Didactic, this initiative aims to transform the industrial SME sector in Thailand.
Running from June 2024 to March 2025, this project will drive innovation and growth for SMEs through a series of impactful activities. These include: IIoT awareness workshops for SME top management, technical training sessions for automation experts, and IIoT pilot implementation projects using OCTOBUS. Additionally, we will develop comprehensive guidelines to assist Thai SMEs in implementing IIoT technologies effectively.
On June 11, we hosted an insightful seminar focused on improving companies' ESG practices using OCTOBUS. We explored how IoT technologies like our Platform can promote ethical and responsible business operations. Egils Rubenis , CEO of integrationWorks Asia and the founder of OCTOBUS, shared a real case where energy consumption in a big hotel was reduced by nearly 35%! This approach is applicable to various sectors including offices, residential buildings, shopping malls, airports, hospitals, hotels, and more.

Singapore, Singapore - The first technical and vocational education training (TVET) “Cloud-based Data Visualization with IIoT Implementation” within OCTOBUS-FESTO collaboration took place in Singapore last week at the Centre for Digitalization, Technology, and Innovation (CDTI). A big ‘Thank-You’ goes to Harold Gelilio (Industrial Automation Specialist at FESTO Didactic Singapore) for guiding the participants through this solid 16-hour session.
Diving deep into the practical aspects of IIoT in industrial automation, the training covered everything from connectivity and software to technologies like Edge and Cloud. Participants got hands-on experience with protocols like OPC-UA and MQTT, and of course, data visualizations.

This partnership aims to equip professionals with essential skills for Industry 4.0, responding to the technological advancements and digitalization sweeping the region.

Bangkok, Thailand - On March 10th, 2023, a Knowledge Exchange event in Bangkok discussed IoT in Urban Development and Smart City Standards. The event comprised two main topics. The first focused on the CHARMS project, aiming to enhance indoor comfort in historic Thai wooden houses using sensors. Various use cases and a transdisciplinary discussion were also included. The second topic explored Smart City Standards and the role of standardized smart city reference models in urban ICT. The event was initiated by Henrik Beermann from Fraunhofer IMW, hosted by Egils Rubenis and Ralf Opierzynski from integrationWorks. The possibilities of transferring European technical standards to Thailand's smart city context were also discussed.
