In this first mobility the main aims were to consolidate the team and start planning the timeline and activities requested to reach our final goal, which was the creation of a video production. This product was meant to be produced in a collaborative way by students from different backgrounds and countries working on four different topics -history of art, architecture, street art and traditions- treated in a multidisciplinary way. Activities, then, focused on creating team building and develop enough knowledge to finally celebrate a cinema festival in our high schools.
After getting to know each other, students got acquainted with the idea of the culture of the different schools involved. By working in international teams and planning the recording activities, the students were able to focus on a selected theme for the film festival, organise themselves, the play script and their roles. A workshop in theatre, dance and cinema helped them to get familiar with new ways of expression as well as to improve their skills through working in teams and on their own and to be motivated for learning and putting into practice a transcurricular approach to cultural heritage.
Three guided cultural visits to our city of Mataró, Barcelona and Girona contributed to students’ management and gain of cultural competence as referred to other cultures, specifically Catalan culture within Spain, bilingualism and active European citizenship. The trips also allowed students to start recording materials for their chosen multicultural topics. In Girona they visited the Film Museum to encourage them more to focus on the topic and learn about technical issues related to their collaborative product. Finally, the attendance of school lessons allowed them to deepen into intercultural and plurilingualism matters, to reflect upon their own schools and culture and to build a sense of European citizenship and commitment to a common Europe.
