There were three conditions to select a community project. It should be community-oriented, achievable, and purposeful. We also added a new condition which was to have fun doing it.

Our Community Action Goal is based upon the idea of raising awareness about drought in our city and also contributing to saving water in our high school community. These goals came out from the survey we conducted about water security and the actions students were willing to undertake.

We have brainstormed about different options. It was difficult to choose a project that we all liked and were able to commit to. So, we have decided to do three micro-projects related to raising awareness about water saving and water security because we are suffering from drought in our city. 

To achieve our goals we decided to raise awareness in our high school in two ways: first, by producing a video and a song about the drought alert situation and measures to stop wasting water, and secondly, by organising a meeting with the Principal and explaining our findings after having conducted the audit and our ideas to be more eco-friendly from a water perspective. Finally, we also want to raise awareness at a community level and for this reason, we are collaborating with Aigües de Mataró, the official water authority in our city, and handing out informative leaflets about the alert drought situation in our neighborhood.

To work effectively, we divided ourselves into five working teams: 

• Tasks of the Video and Song team: Raise awareness at the high school by making a video and presenting it in all 24 classes and versioning a very popular song in Catalan to inform the people of the state of alert drought. 

• Tasks of the Meeting with the Principal team: Prepare a presentation and hold a meeting with the Principal to explain the advantages of our proposed changes and also offer our availability to help. 

• Tasks of the Delivering Leaflets team: Distribute leaflets about water saving in our neighborhood and talk to people personally about the consequences of the drought situation.

• Tasks of the Ambassadors team: Communicate with the Global Scholars peers by posting on our platform Schoology. 

• Tasks of the Reporting team: Report the whole process, create a website, and explain it to the world.
