INS TARADELL IS "GEPPING"!

INS Taradell is a secondary school located in the town of Taradell, 8 km away from Vic, in the county of Osona. It was founded in 1994 and it has been growing over the last few years reaching more than 500 students being enrolled at present. There are currently four classes per course in the level of compulsory secondary education and two classes per course in Batxillerat although the school was initially designed to offer a maximum of three classes per course. In terms of staff, there are around 50 teachers working in the school. Regarding the home town of the students, most of them come from Taradell as well as the nearby towns: Santa Eugènia de Berga, Viladrau, Seva and Balenyà, being Catalan the most widely spoken language among the students. The average socioeconomic and cultural status of families is medium. 

The learning of foreign languages is enhanced in the school by the implementation of different projects and actions that are engaging for the students. For instance, both in 2nd and 3rd grades, the end-of-year school trips are held in English. Besides, 1st batxillerat students go to an English-speaking country for one week to improve the language by doing a programme that combines lessons and activities, and the accommodation being provided in host families to enrich their experience. We also offer optional classes taught in English in order to increase the input that students receive in this language (in 1st of ESO students do the subject called "Linguistic Projects", and in 2nd of ESO, students can do the optional subject called "Instinews", which consists of creating a radio programme with different sections in English, which they broadcast in the town's local radio station). Moreover, this year we have started with the use of CLIL methodologies, specifically in 1st grade with the subject of PE. Next year, the school will also offer the students the possibility to certify their level of English and French by sitting the EOI exams -in collaboration with Osona EOI.
