Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe that we are already well into the Autumn term. It has been an absolute pleasure to see all the children settle so well into their new classes, reconnect with friends and begin into their learning journeys. A very warm welcome to all our new families and a special welcome to our nursery and reception families who have officially joined our school community this month—we are so happy to have you with us. Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend our recent 'Meet the Teacher' sessions. It was wonderful to see so many of you in school, building those vital connections for the year ahead. Following these meetings, home learning expectations alongside all children login details have now been shared. If you have any trouble accessing these platforms from home, please speak to your child's class teacher.

We are thrilled to formally share that at the very end of last term, our school was officially awarded the prestigious Gold Rights Respecting School Award by UNICEF UK! This is the highest level of the award and reflects our deep commitment to embedding children’s rights into the practice, ethos, and daily life of our school. Thank you to our dedicated staff, pupils and parents whose continuous support made this incredible achievement possible. The assessor noted that our "very articulate and passionate children value child rights education, understand how their rights connect to school life, school’s values, and their local and global community." The school's rights-based journey has also positively impacted the learning environment, with children's rights and the UN Sustainable Development Goals explicitly linked to all areas of our work, displays, and across the curriculum to ensure every child receives a rich educational experience. As a school, we are deeply proud of our caring and nurturing ethos, where dignity and respect create a strong culture of inclusion. The assessor highlighted that children "have a strong sense of fairness and equity" benefiting from an environment where everyone is celebrated, valued, and supported to be the best they can be. We're also proud to see that our pupils feel empowered. Our confident children know their views are taken seriously, feel listened to and are actively making a positive difference in the school and the wider world—remaining fully committed to helping realise rights for other children both locally and globally.

Looking ahead, it is time to start thinking about our upcoming Parents' Evening. These evenings are a fantastic opportunity to discuss your child's progress with their teacher and celebrate their achievements so far this term. A separate letter has been sent home with detailed instructions on how to book your appointment using Arbor.
